well company charities are *always* advertising campaigns, for all i care. it doesn’t matter much to me if they wanna do it.

Duh anyone can see that but it doesn’t hurt to help in any way I guess it’s a start. Does it hurt or cost you to download a new version? We do it all the time anyway.

My guess is that the older versions of Messenger did not have the capability of tracking charities. So, MS most likely had to implement a new version with the code that could accommodate. It is probably more a simple explanation than a big conspiracy.

When your friends upgrade to newer cell phones, are you forced to upgrade as well in order to speak with her? Certainly no. Are you allowed to use the ATM card issued by one bank at the ATM machine that belongs to another bank, in a foreign country? Yes, Then why do the world collectively tolerate the incompatibility not only between Microsoft products with those from other vendors, but also between its own newer and older versions, as was the case with the MSN 6.1 upgrade cycle in 2003, or the various upgrade cycles of versions of the Microsoft Word?

Yet they continue to get major tax breaks. Did you know that in 1999 (ok, that was a while ago, not sure about today) MS didn’t pay a single cent in taxes though they earned $12.3 bill in profit? The amount they donate pales in comparison.

It looks like a charity campaign squezzed into a promotional campaign of Windows Live. I hate when Microsoft does this..All these pathetic fools try to market in the name of charity.
