Because it allows you to resume downloads if you get disconnected and much more features including a faster download.<\/p>\n<p>As the name says FDM is a totally free download manager. No ads, nag screen or limitation.<\/p>\n<p>You can download Free Download Manager (FDM) from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freedownloadmanager.org\/\">www.freedownloadmanager.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lets download and install it first!<\/p>\n<p>Go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freedownloadmanager.org\/\">www.freedownloadmanager.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Click on the &#8220;Download&#8221; link.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image286\" alt=\"Free Download Manager Home Page\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dotcomunderground.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/home-page.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Download and install it.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image287\" alt=\"FDM Download Page\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dotcomunderground.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/download-page.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<em>How to install? Save it to a location and run the downloaded installer. Follow instructions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Now when we have it installed, lets go downloding a file.<\/p>\n<p>Lets run the program first if its not already running. Click on the &#8220;Free Download Manager&#8221; icon on the desktop<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image288\" alt=\"FDM icon on desktop\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dotcomunderground.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/desktop-fdm-icon.jpg\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>Now we are ready to download.  There can be basically tho scenarios. In first place where you get the &#8220;save target as..&#8221; option (ex. web pages). And in the other, where you dont get it! (ex. msn conversation)<\/p>\n<p>First we deal with when we have the &#8220;save target as..&#8221; present.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scenario 1: Downloading from webpages<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Step 1:<br \/>\nGo to the page where we hae the file to download.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image289\" alt=\"File Download Link\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dotcomunderground.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/download-link.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 2:<br \/>\nRight click on the link. Select &#8220;Download with Free Download Manger&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image290\" alt=\"Download with FDM contex menu\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dotcomunderground.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/right-click-download-with-fdm.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We could have also clicked the &#8220;save target as..&#8221; instead.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image295\" alt=\"Save target as\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dotcomunderground.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/right-click-save-target-as.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 3:<br \/>\nThe &#8220;Add Download&#8221; dialogue box will appear. Click on the yellow folder icon to choose where you want to save the file.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image291\" alt=\"FDM Add Download dialogue box\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dotcomunderground.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/add-download-dialogue-box.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Browse to the folder where you want to save the file and click &#8220;OK&#8221;. You can choose &#8220;desktop&#8221; as location.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image293\" alt=\"FDM - Browse for folder\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dotcomunderground.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/browse-to-folder1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Soon the download will start. We will get the file in the desired location when done.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image294\" alt=\"Downloaded File\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dotcomunderground.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/downloaded-file.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now lets deal with when we dont have the &#8220;save target as&#8230;&#8221; option<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scenario 2: Downloading from msn, yahoo, irc etc.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Say your friend gave you a file link over msn messenger.<\/p>\n<p>Step 1:<br \/>\nSelect and copy the link from msn. (right click and select &#8220;copy&#8221;)<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image297\" alt=\"Copy msn link\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dotcomunderground.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/copy-link-from-msn.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 2:<br \/>\nOpen Free Download Manager.
