After each command line, press ENTER:<br \/>\n<code>cd\\<br \/>\ncd %appdata%\\microsoft<br \/>\ncd \"msn messenger\"<br \/>\ndel \/s listcache.dat<\/code><\/p>\n<p><strong>For Windows Live Messenger:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; For Windows XP:<\/strong><br \/>\nRight click on the <strong>Start<\/strong> button and then click <strong>Explore<\/strong> to open <strong>Windows Explorer<\/strong>.  On the <strong>Tools<\/strong> menu, click <strong>Folder Options<\/strong>. Click the <strong>View<\/strong> tab. In the <strong>Advanced<\/strong> settings list, select <em>Show hidden files and folders<\/em> under <strong>Hidden Files and Folders<\/strong>. Click to clear the <em>Hide extensions for known file types<\/em> check box . Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to close the Folder Options window.<\/p>\n<p>Delete the Contacts Cache folder. To do so, right-click Start, and then click Explore to open the Windows Explorer window. In the Windows Explorer window, locate the folders below and delete all the files and folders  inside them<\/p>\n<p>C:\\Documents and Settings\\ Your Windows logon name \\Contacts\\ Your Messenger e-mail address<br \/>\nC:\\Documents and Settings\\ Your Windows logon name \\Local Settings\\Application Data\\Microsoft\\Windows Live Contacts\\ Your Messenger email address <\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Windows Logon name is the logon name that you use to sign in to windows. Your Messenger email address is the address that you use to sign in to Messenger. <\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; For Windows Vista:<\/strong><br \/>\nClick <strong>Start<\/strong> and then click <strong>Explore<\/strong> to open <strong>Windows Explorer<\/strong>.  On the <strong>Organize<\/strong> menu, click Folder and Search Options. Click the <strong>View<\/strong> tab. In the <strong>Advanced<\/strong> settings list, select <strong>Show hidden files and folders<\/strong> under Hidden Files and Folders.
