Ever wondered how ppl get colored nick names on MSN messenger?
Here is how to do it-

You need to have MSN Plus! and ColorNick version 2 installed.

1. Open a conversation window with any contact.

2. Type /xcolornick and press Enter or click Send. This command is also available in the Plus! menu, Plugins, ColorNick v2, Create a colored nickname.
You can specify the nickname to use after “/xcolornick” (be sure to type a space after this command). For example: /xcolornick New nickname.

3. ColorNick’s main window should appear (if it doesn’t, see below):
msn color nick

4. Type the nickname, color and format it, then click OK.

If you often use the same color/gradient for your nickname or your messages, you can save this setting with the Auto-coloration feature. Instead of choosing a color in ColorNick’s main window every time, the saved color is automatically applied and the window doesn’t appear when typing /xcolornick or /xcolortext.

Configuration:
1. Open ColorNick’s Preferences window ; to do that you can:
- click the Plus! menu, Preferences in the contact list, click Plugins on the left, then ColorNick v2 and Configure.
- click the Plus! menu, Plugins, ColorNick v2, Configure in any conversation window.
- type /xcolornickcfg and press Enter or click Send in any conversation window.

2. Check the Nickname and/or Text checkbox at the top of the window and choose your settings below for each tab.

3. Click Close.

How to use:
1. Open a conversation window with any contact.

2. Type /xcolornick New Nickname, where “New Nickname” must be replaced with the nickname to color with previously saved colors, and press Enter or click Send.

3. For your messages, do the same with /xcolortext Message To Send.

You can use Messenger Plus! keyboard shortcuts to format your nickname/text when typing it in the conversation window ; they affect characters following them.

CTRL+B = bold
CTRL+T = italic
CTRL+U = underlined
CTRL+S = struck-out
CTRL+R = show panel to select format

However if you want to disable this Auto-coloration feature do following:

2. Uncheck the Nickname checkbox at the top of the window to disable nickname auto-coloration, and uncheck the Text checkbox to disable text auto-coloration.
